The CARO Centre participated in the 4th edition of the 4 Pro Sustainable Development Meetings.

The event was held over two days, online and in person, at the World Trade Centre Complex in Jarry, Guadeloupe.

Organised since 2018 by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Islands of Guadeloupe, the Pro Sustainable Development Meetings have become a must-go event in the region when it comes to sustainable development.

Over these two days, around 20 speakers (local businesses and experts) come to share their experience about topics related to waste management, eco-design and other subjects to do with sustainable development.

The Pro Sustainable Development Meetings, supported by ADEME (French Agency for Ecological Transition) and the Guadeloupe Region, help to emphasise the tools, reproducible models, initiatives, resources and riches of the Guadeloupe territory through forums, workshops and an exhibition space. The objective of this 4th edition of the Pro Sustainable Development Meetings was to continue supporting business leaders with systems and solutions available to them in Guadeloupe and to highlight those who undertake actions that promote sustainable development.

The CARO Centre participated in a masterclass and a workshop on the second day.

The masterclass, which took place online, was led by Solène Balaguette, a legal expert at the CARO Centre. The theme was “Sustainable Development in the Territories with the CARO Centre”, and more precisely how the services of the OHADAC Regional Arbitration Centre offer tools to support sustainable development objectives in the territories. The CARO Centre offers a varied range of services adapted to the needs in the territories to provide the support and legal security necessary for the proper deployment of development projects in the Caribbean region.

Maître Elisabeth Calonne and Maître Karine Linon, lawyers at the Bar of Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, and mediators led the workshop. The theme was “Sustainable Development Objectives and Mediation” or how mediation can be used as a support tool to face the challenge of sustainable development. Maître Calonne and Maître Linon gave the participants practical training in mediation techniques relating to integration of standards around Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

This day was an opportunity to introduce sustainable development players to the tools developed and made available by the CARO Centre to secure their projects and help to make sustainable development a success across our territories.
