On March 23 the CARO Centre was invited to take part in a webinar organized by GuadeloupeTech together with Unite Caribbean.

The event was the first in a series of training webinars for members of the GuadeloupeTech network on the theme: “Developing your project in the Caribbean”.

GuadeloupeTech is a digital economy cluster that helps companies in the industry expand rapidly thanks to a network connected to the entire range of socio-professional categories covered by the field. At the forefront of disruptive innovation in the Caribbean, GuadeloupeTech has been built on a new approach to the digital economy. It aims to support start-ups, business owners and students - and the region and society as a whole - to embrace the future.

Unite Caribbean is a consulting agency that works on regional development and cooperation. Unite Caribbean draws on a team of consultants specializing in the international development policies of small Caribbean island states in key thematic areas for the region.

The speakers were:

  • Damien Bauchau, director of governance and co-founder of Unite Caribbean, who gave a presentation on Unite Caribbean structure, its aims and the projects undertaken in the Caribbean region. He then introduced the next modules intended for members of the GuadeloupeTech network on the following topics:
    • Understanding the Caribbean Basin as an area of development opportunity
    • From the idea of internationalization to its implementation: feedback and the keys to success
  • Marie-Camille Pitton, secretary general of the CARO Centre, introduced the Centre before highlighting the legal issues encountered in the Caribbean region. She also talked about the various legal tools developed by the CARO Centre to secure agreements and international projects (expert assessment, facilitation, mediation and arbitration) before unveiling the entire programme for the upcoming training webinars to be organized in the form of workshops:
    • Topic 1: Are you considering developing your business in the region or internationally? Consolidate your plans with CARO - scheduled date: April 20, 2022
    • Topic 2: Overcoming one-time implementation problems using the “mediator point of contact”
    • Topic 3: CARO mediation and arbitration

The event gave project and business leaders a better understanding of the existing tools in the Caribbean region that can help develop their projects. They also had the opportunity to ask questions via the webinar's chat function and shine a light on their own experiences.
