The CARO Centre took part in the first joint multi-sector sourcing mission to Panama from 26 March to 1 April 2023. The mission was organised by the CCI of the Islands of Guadeloupe (CCI IG), lead partner of the OHADAC project.

The mission took place during the 2023 edition of the EXPOCOMER international commercial fair, organised by the Panama Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture. EXPOCOMER is a multi-sector trade exhibition, focusing on three main sectors: Food, drink and agricultural products; Textiles, clothing and accessories; Technology and electronics.

Held over three days and dedicated to commerce, tourism and logistics (EXPOCOMER, EXPOTURISMO and EXPOLOGISTICA), the fair brought together more than 500 exhibitors of different nationalities around forums, discussions, stands and B2B meetings.

This mission made it possible to encounter economic and legal stakeholders from Panama and Latin America. These included a number of exchanges with the Executive Director and members of the Board of Directors of the Franco-Panamanian CCI, together with the Embassies of France in Panama and the Bahamas.

The France Panama CCI is the first Franco-Panamanian business community and was created in 2015 to develop and promote commercial exchanges between French and Panamanian companies.

The delegation was composed of:

  • Edith EVRILLUS, elected member of the CCI IG, President of the TPE (very small businesses) Commission and Head of Delegation
  • Christina MUGERIN, Project manager in the Company managers International Division

The CARO Centre was represented by Ms. Solène BALAGUETTE, the CARO Centre's legal expert. The mission enabled:

  • an evaluation of business opportunities in Panama.
  • a better appreciation of the range of alternative dispute resolution methods in Panama, and more specifically arbitration,
  • the reinforcement of prospective collaborations,
  • the development of the CARO network.
