The CARO Centre has been established as part of the OHADAC-CARO project, led by ACP Legal and co-financed by the Interreg Caribbean 2021-2027 programme, with the support of the European Union and the French Development Agency (AFD). This initiative aims to strengthen regional integration by facilitating economic exchanges and securing investments through tailored legal instruments, particularly in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). The CARO Centre thus contributes to the development of a more secure economic environment and supports Caribbean stakeholders in their growth and development.

From 1 to 3 July 2026, Marie-Camille Pitton, Secretary-General of the OHADAC Regional Arbitration Centre (CARO Centre), participated in the 18th Antilles-Guiana Regional Cooperation Conference (CCRAG), held at the University of the Antilles in Martinique.

With a strong focus on action, this new edition of the CCRAG brought together representatives of the French State, the French territories in the Americas, Caribbean States and regional organisations, as well as numerous institutional and economic stakeholders, to discuss the major challenges of regional cooperation. The conference was notably intended to generate concrete proposals and shared roadmaps for the coming years.

The participation of ACP Legal and the CARO Centre in this 18th CCRAG provided a further opportunity to strengthen institutional ties with their partners and with key stakeholders involved in regional cooperation in the Caribbean, while contributing to discussions on the development of an ambitious and operational roadmap for the region.

This participation also took place in the context of the forthcoming roll-out, over the coming months, of the regional mediation and arbitration training programme across all Member States of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

The programme had been officially announced on 10 June 2026 in Saint Lucia, during an event held at the Residence of France bringing together several institutional partners and representatives of the region's judicial and business communities. It is intended to progressively strengthen regional capacity in dispute prevention and resolution through activities targeting, in particular, businesses and chambers of commerce, judges and legal practitioners, as well as government representatives.

A few weeks ahead of the launch of the first training sessions, the CCRAG therefore provided a particularly valuable forum to continue discussions with regional partners, strengthen synergies with existing initiatives, and position the OHADAC-CARO programme within a broader dynamic of Caribbean cooperation.

This approach reflects the ambition pursued by ACP Legal and the CARO Centre: to contribute, through concrete training, networking and institutional cooperation initiatives, to the development of a regional environment that is more conducive to the prevention and effective resolution of disputes in the Caribbean.
